Apple Watch 2 Review

I’ve had my watch for about 4 months now so I figured it was time to share my thoughts. I get questions just about every day regarding my watch so I’ve rounded up some of my most frequently received questions and answered them here. As always, if you have any questions that I didn’t touch on just let me know down in the comments!

Do you like it?/Is it worth the money?

I combined these two just because they’re usually asked together. First off, yes I love it! Second, yes I think it’s worth the money, however, there is a caveat to that, that caveat is that it depends on what you want it for.

Why did you get it?

I had been toying with the idea of getting one since it launched but I held off. Finally, I got a job where pretty much EVERYONE had one. I am a server/bartender so being on my phone isn’t really an option when I’m working, so the watch allows me to keep up with my notifications and determine whether or not I need to go handle/deal with something. I also didn’t have any sort of activity tracker so it was a multi solution.

What do you use it for?

It honestly just helps me stay on top of everything. I customized my watch face to show the time, date, weather, activity rings and temperature, so it’s really handy (haha) to be able to check those.
It also has a GPS feature, so when you are using the map on your phone is pops the directions up on the watch, it also vibrates to alert you to upcoming turns/directions which is nice if you’re like me and sometimes forget to pay attention to the GPS.
Lastly, I use it to check texts/calls/messages. This is really nice when I’m with friends and family or even when I’m at work, it helps me stay off my phone and enjoy my present company.

What do you love most about it?

That’s a tough one… I love being able to answer the phone on my watch, although I usually just use this feature when I’m at work, and it’s usually just to tell me mom that I’ll call her back later…

The watch also tells me to stand up once every hour, which I really appreciate when I’m working on my computer for hours at a time.

Anything you would change about it?

You can’t be further than about 25 ft from your phone in order for all the cool features to work. The time will still update but all of the cell phone features are disabled if your phone is out of range.

What features do you use most?

I’m pretty boring when it comes to this… I basically use the fitness tracker, the timer (perfect for naps and cooking times), texting, phone, shazam, GPS, and American Airlines app (you can load your boarding pass on it), sometimes I use the apple pay but I usually just use my phone for that.

What about your other watches?

This was my biggest worry when I was trying to decide whether or not I should buy it. I have a lot of watches and I like to swap them out depending on the day and what I’m wearing. Since I bought my apple watch though I’ve worn it pretty much exclusively, I do wear my other watches on occasion but for the most part I’ve been loving the apple watch.

What color do you have?/What series do you have?

I have the series 2! And I chose the gold with the chocolate band. I want to get the navy band and I’m looking for a leather band that I like but for now the chocolate has been working out great.

If you’re debating on whether to get the series 1 or 2, I chose the 2 just because of the waterproof feature, I figured if I was going to spend $200 on a watch I might as well just spend the extra $100 to make sure it’s waterproof. My friend has the series 1 and she has no complaints though!

Does your phone die faster?

I don’t think so! You do have to leave your bluetooth on, but you’re also not using your phone as much to check things throughout the day, so things kind of balance out.

Does the face scratch easily?

Nope! I’ve banged my wrist into door frames and my face is still good as new!

Should I get the 38 or the 42 mm?

I definitely recommend the 42mm! I borrowed my friends watch for a day when I was still on the fence about getting one and the 42mm is much better in my opinion! I also prefer large face watches so that might have something to do with it…

Tips & Tricks

1 – You can clear all of your notifications at once (just pull down your notifications tab and press down until the clear all button appears)

2 – You have to charge it EVERY night. The watch only has about 1.5 days charge so if you don’t it’s going to die on you in the middle of the day.

3 – If you’re on the fence, give it a 30 day try when you buy from BestBuy. They have a pretty good return policy and that way you’ll know for sure if you think it’s worth the investment!
