How to Tie Bean Boots

Well, it’s officially fall. No one can tell me “It’s not fall yet” as I sip on Pumpkin Spice Lattes anymore. Sweaters are everywhere! Leaves are Falling! Bean Boots are Back!

Fall is my absolute favorite time of year (if you couldn’t tell) and I live and die for fall fashion. Especially Bean Boots. Bean boots have long been a staple in my fall wardrobe, they’re so easy to style and they’re adorable! Despite how stinking cute they are, Bean Boots can be a bit tricky to keep tied, that is until I found out about the Eastland Knot. I discovered this knot a few years ago and there has been no going back. I used to tie my bean boots with just a standard bow and I would have issues with them coming untied but this knot stays put!

I have the 8″ bean boots in navy so I like to keep a few holes untied but my mom has the 6″ boots and she ties hers all the way up, its totally a preference thing, just make sure to keep in mind that you need enough lace to tie this knot, and you still want to be able to put the shoe on.

Step 1

Create a little loop. This is the hardest part for me! You might have to try a few times to get the right size loop but about an inch and a quarter or so is what you need.

Step 2

Twist your fold so that the tail is wrapped over to the back. This step isn’t technically necessary but I feel that it helps to hold the knot a little bit better as it creates a bit of tension.

Step 3

Start wrapping the shoelace around the loop as tight as you can.

Step 4

Keep on wrapping. yep.

Step 5

When you get to the end you want to leave a little loop and a little bit of excess lace. This is how we’re going to secure the knot.

Step 6

Stick the end of the lace through the little loop you’ve created.

Step 7

Pull it tight

And you’re done! You can adjust the knot by scrunching from the top! PS- you might need to give it a few gos before you get the knot just right.

I absolutely love this knot! I always get loads of compliments on my boots and not only does it work well for bean boots but it’s great for keeping those pesky boat shoe laces tied up (looking at you Sperry).

What do you think? Are you gonna give it a try? If you do try it make sure to post pics and tag me on instagram!

Sidenote, if you’ve been toying with the idea of picking up some Bean Boots, now is the time to purchase! Each pair is handmade so they take some time and every year they go on a massive waitlist.
