I’m a self-proclaimed foundation junkie. I’ve tried and tested a lot of brands, a lot of products, a lot of formulas and it is nothing short of a miracle if I actually repurchase one (if I ever finish a bottle if we’re being completely honest. Wasteful I know, don’t come for me, I give a lot of it to friends and family) In the last 13 years of blogging having tried over 200 foundations I think I have maybe a total of 4 foundations that I’ve repurchased? So when I tell you I haven’t even finished this bottle and I already have a backup? Miraculous. And I knew immediately that I needed to do a Haus Labs Foundation Review.
Haus Labs has been around since 2019, and is Lady Gaga’s brand. I’m not usually one to go for celeb brands (Fenty & Rare have been standouts but typically I find them to be a little lacking and overhyped.) But everything I have tried from Haus Labs has been nothing short of amazing. Vegan, Cruelty-free and claims that it is “supercharged clean artistry makeup powered by innovation.” its absolutely no shock that this brand has become a TikTok Viral sensation.
Haus Labs Foundation Review
I can go on for days about how much I love the feel of this foundation. (like seriously, oscar music playing the background because I can go on and on and on, you get the point.) Korean formulated, this took over 40 iterations and almost 3 years to formulate. It’s the definition of weightless. It feels almost like serum, but you don’t get that stickiness that a lot of “serum” foundations have. It builds beautifully, covers redness, blemishes, and because it’s so light in texture, I feel like it doesn’t settle into my fine lines as much as heavier foundations do.
Shade Range
With 51 shades to choose from this is one of the more inclusive lines. They divide shades by families of Deep, Medium Deep, Medium, Light Medium, Light & Fair. And then there are the three classic undertones, warm, cool & neutral. I am in Shade 110 – Light Neutral, when I am not self tanning (pictured) when I am self tanning I am in Shade 250 – Light Medium Neutral.
Packaging
A GLASS BOTTLE WITH A PUMP. Praise. This bottle feels so so luxe, it’s heavy, it’s frosted, the silver cap is so cute. The pump I wish was a little bigger? I feel like I have to hold this completely horizontal for it to not run down the side a bit, but I put it on a metal mixing tray for application so this isn’t a deal breaker for me and it is a really easy pump to control so you can do like a half pump.
Coverage & Application
This foundation is described as medium and buildable and I completely agree. It looks dewy and natural and is just the most lovely finish that makes your skin look so healthy, hydrated, nourished & glowy. It does contain fermented arnica which I had never heard of but it is mean to calm the skin and if that’s what is happening here, I am on board.
It builds up really nicely, I’ve applied with a brush and a damp beauty blender (don’t come for me, you can pry my beauty blender from my cold dead hands) and the beauty blender is my favorite application tool.
Feel
Virtually weightless. I mean it. I apply this and it is like a second skin. It has more of a serum consistency and is just a dream to wear.
Longevity
Full disclosure, post doing Accutane about 5 years ago, I do not get oily at all and makeup lasts very well on me. That being said, I have a bad habit of touching my face a lot, and this withstands it quite well. I don’t notice any oxidization on myself, and it doesn’t feel uncomfortable as the day goes on so this is one I can put on really early and not worry about all day.
Overall Haus Labs Foundation Review
Just try it. If you want a “your skin, but better” foundation this is my go to, I think it might actually be my #1? (don’t tell my Armani Luminous Silk). It applies and wears beautifully, it doesn’t get cakey, its just really all that and a bag of chips.
