Things to do in Fort Worth | A Weekend Guide

Spoiler alert, you are going to fall in love with Fort Worth. You’ve been warned. After 7 years here in good ole Fort Worth Texas I figured it was high time to share some of my favorite haunts and go-to spots. From BBQ to pizza, and bars to coffee shops, There are so many things to do in Fort Worth and I cannot wait for you to experience it for yourself. So here we go, my Fort Worth Weekend Guide.

Where to stay

The Hotel Drover | My favorite hotel, located right in the heart of the historic Stockyards the Drover has it ALL. Ambiance, pool for the warmer months, fire pits for the colder months, indoor and outdoor bar and maybe some celeb sitings (it’s a favorite haunt of Yellowstone producer Taylor Sheridan, and other cast members)

The Sinclair | Beautiful and right in the middle of downtown Fort Worth this hotel is nice and close to the convention center and all of the art galleries around Sundance Square

Hotel Dryce | Located in the cultural district Hotel Dryce is a boutique hotel and a favorite hangout for locals. After you’ve hit the nearby museums, make sure to grab a drink at the Lobby bar.

Favorite Restaurants

Don Artemio | Upscale, contemporary Mexican cuisine. Pinky promise you won’t be disappointed.

B&B Butchers | Located in Clearfork this spot is perfect for lunch or dinner

Mash’d | Casual, trendy, and delicious food and craft cocktails.

Rise No3 | Soufflé anyone? Full service French cafe, but they’re known for their sweet and savory Soufflés

Favorite Bars

Atico | One word. Rooftop. On the top floor of the Springhill in the Historic Stockyards, Atico is a tapas and drink bar with the best views of the city

Second Rodeo | Just like hanging out in the backyard, live music, good vibes and the perfect place to kick back for the afternoon

Shopping

Clearfork | Open air dining, shopping & entertainment

Hale House | Cute locally owned clothing boutique

Morgan’s Mercantile | Locally made artisan goods, full of Fort Worth finds

A few more of our favorites around town:

Best Cocktails: Atico, The Usual or Thompson’s

Best Coffee: Summer Moon (2 locations), Roots, Cherry, Ascension

Best Margarita: Joe T Garcias (be careful, they are DEADLY, and its cash only) or Chimys (try the Ranch Water!), Mesero, Taco Heads, The Original we have a lot of margaritas here ok?

Best Sushi/Seafood: Blue Sushi or Shinjuku Station for Sushi. For Seafood, Waters is upscale and amazing, but Coco Shrimp is the BEST if you’re into coconut shrimp. Seriously just try it.

Best Mexican/Tex Mex: This is a dangerous question here in Fort Worth, for an easy menu and a fun atmosphere, you can’t beat Joe T Garcias (but any fort worth native will tell you the margs are the real reason to go) my go-to for good Mexican Food (or at least Tex Mex) is Marias Mexican Kitchen or The Original.

Best BBQ: Another really dangerous question here in Texas. I prefer Angelos, but Heim is a Fort Worth Institution. If you want to drive a bit, Hard 8 is a Texas Favorite, but it’s not technically in Fort Worth.

Best Happy Hour: The Drover Hotel, Second Rodeo

Best Patio: The Bearded Lady, Waters, & Flying Saucer Draught Emporium (may have a cover charge if there is live music!)

Best Healthy Food: Righteous Foods

Best Brunch: Brewed, Fixe Southern House, Press Cafe or Snooze (not technically a fw local but its still amazing)

And I can’t forget, Best Dessert: Morgan’s Ice Cream, MELT Ice Creams, or a Dallas transplant, Emporium Pies

I hope you love your time here in Funkytown! I know I missed some things on this list so let me know your faves in the comments!
